Exhibitions & Performances

Our work with children has been shown in Venues including the West Yorkshire Playhouse, Lawrence Batley Theatre, Carriageworks Theatre, Hebdon Bridge Picture House, Leeds City Art Gallery, Royal Armouries, The Priestley Theatre, Theatre in the Mill, St George's Hall and a great number schools across the region.

We recognise the importance of working closley with staff to bring new skills and disseminate best practice in our artforms.

We believe in the artistic potential of all children, regardless of ability and due to this continue to discover, develop and celebrate the talents of individuals within our groups.

Improvisation Masks Music Art Film & Theatre skills

 

We are a theatre arts organisation that specialise in artistic residencies in Mainstream and Special Needs Education. We use art, music and drama to raise attainment across the curriculumn.

We have managed a range of extended residencies for organisations such as Aim Higher and Art Forms Music + Arts Initiative. Alter ego arts also manages residencies directly with primary and secondary mainstream schools. We have considerable experience working as artists supplying a variety of workshops for Youth Services throughout yorkshire in an out of school community context.

There are a number of shorter roll outs and one off workshops that seek to raise attainment through the creative arts in a number of subject areas including: Art, Literacy, speaking and listening, social emotional aspects of learning, music and even science.

Everything can be tailored to suit individual client group needs. We have experience working in partnership with schools seeking arts mark status and our staff include individuals trained as arts mark assesors.

During the previous 4 years we have operated out of a purpose built studio in Chapel Grange SEN School. This has enabled us to develop an extensive and original body of work with a wide variety of special needs clients including Autism spectrum and those with Profound multiple learning disabilities. Our staff are trained in intensive interaction technique and positive handling.
